Kevin Harney

As Principal, Kevin provides project planning, design management and client relations services for healthcare projects nationwide. He has a wealth of experience—ranging from master planning and site development, to programming and schematic design and departmental planning—with all types of healthcare projects. Kevin, who joined ESa in 1992, earned his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati and continued with graduate studies at Iowa State University.

Kevin’s involvement usually begins with conceptual design, and continues throughout the life of the project. To Kevin, excellent client service is achieved by “listening, processing, understanding and acting.” He is a conduit for communication among all project team members, helping to make sure that the project’s design intent and program are carried through to project completion. Kevin believes in patient-focused design that is informed by the “clients, program and site context, and blurs the boundaries between inside and outside.”

After completing a project, Kevin is most rewarded when end users and executive teams express “how great the spaces are, and how the designs help them provide better patient care.” When he is not in the office or traveling for work, Kevin enjoys staying busy with his family, watching the University of Kentucky play basketball, being outside and dreaming of relaxing in the Montana mountains…someday.
