Matthew A. Manning

Principal at ESa

Matt joined ESa’s design team in 1995, after earning his Bachelor of Architecture degree from the University of Cincinnati (magna cum laude). As Principal, Matt manages complex healthcare projects at ESa, with a focus on both new construction and renovations. His portfolio includes master planning and design of numerous greenfield and replacement hospitals across the country, as well as the management of building programs for national health systems.

Matt’s goal is simple – to bring value to clients with service second to none. His personal design philosophy is to challenge all preconceived notions, not accepting the easy answers when he knows they may be shortsighted. He believes that excellent client service, at its core, “begins with listening to clients’ needs, assessing problems and offering solutions that challenge conventional thought.”

An EDAC accredited professional, Matt is inspired to come to work each day by the next big challenge and the “knowledge that the space we design today, may impact the health of a friend or loved one tomorrow.” When not in the office or traveling for projects, Matt restores a vintage 1999 pickup truck, continues to build a treehouse for his kids, and ponders the cost of college tuition in 2024.
