David Jones

Board Member at Earlham College

David Jones ’76 graduated from Earlham and the University of Wisconsin and joined Exxon as an exploration geologist. In his 13 years with Exxon, he held a number of technical and management positions in exploration and production at different locations in Texas. In 1992, David returned to Chester County, Pennsylvania, and began work for Kendal, a not-for-profit, Quaker organization that builds and operates retirement communities. David retired in 2020 after serving Kendal for 28 years as project director and vice president for new projects. At Kendal he was responsible for programming, marketing and design and construction. In this role, he worked closely with not-for-profit boards, guiding them through the complexities of major development projects. In addition, David facilitated sustainability initiatives within Kendal, and worked to uphold a strong commitment to historical Quaker values and consensus decision-making in the thirteen Kendal communities. David served as a Trustee for Westtown School in West Chester, Pennsylvania, for 21 years and is active in his monthly meeting. David and Sallie have three grown children and four grandchildren. David joined the Board of Trustees in 2014.
