Michal Kowaliszyn

Michal Kowaliszyn has extensive work experience as a software engineer. Michal is currently working as a Principal Software Engineer at Earnest Analytics since March 2023. Prior to this, they worked as a Staff Software Engineer at the same company from March 2020 to February 2023.

Before joining Earnest Analytics, Michal worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Zola.com from September 2019 to February 2020.

From January 2017 to June 2019, they worked at Hudson's Bay Company as a Lead Software Engineer II. In this role, they were responsible for backend microservices in Scala on AWS. Michal handled projects related to user segmentation, loyalty programs, product feeds, SEO, and tech-driven marketing campaigns for Gilt and HBC. Prior to that, Michal worked at Gilt.com as a Lead Software Engineer from May 2015 to December 2016, and as a Software Engineer from July 2014 to April 2015.

Michal started their career as a Software Engineer at AOL, where they worked from November 2012 to June 2014.

Before joining AOL, Michal worked as a Java Software Engineer at Getin Noble Bank S.A. from December 2011 to September 2012. Michal developed a debt collection platform using Java EE/Spring and various technologies like Hibernate, GWT/Sencha GXT, and PostgreSQL.

Michal'searly experience includes working as a Java Software Engineer at Nokia Siemens Networks from May 2010 to November 2011. In this role, they worked on the Nokia BTS Testing Platform using Java, Eclipse RCP, XML, JUnit, Mockito, HudsonCI, and ANT.

Michal Kowaliszyn obtained their MSc degree in Computer Science from Wroclaw University of Science and Technology, where they studied from 2005 to 2010. In 2008 and 2009, they pursued further education in Computer Science at Cranfield University, obtaining another MSc degree.

Additionally, Michal has obtained various certifications throughout their career. In September 2011, they became an Oracle Certified Professional, Java SE 6 Programmer (SCJP). In October 2012, they completed the course "Functional Programming in Scala" offered by EPFL on Coursera. In December 2013, they obtained a certification in "Programming Languages" from the University of Washington through Coursera. In November 2010, they became a Certified Scrum Master through Scrum Alliance. More recently, in April 2017 and April 2018, they completed the courses "Advanced Functional Programming in Scala" and "Applied Functional Programming in Scala" respectively, both instructed by John De Goes.
