John Kearns

Senior Engineer at Earth Observant

John Kearns has worked in the engineering field since 2011. From 2011 to 2012, they worked as an Intern at Eetrex Incorporated. From 2012 to 2014, they were a Graduate Student at the University of Colorado Boulder, where they carried out a Master's Thesis project to design and build a human leg exoskeleton to reduce the metabolic load of running and jumping. John also worked as a Component Design Teacher's Assistant at the University of Colorado from 2014 to 2016. From 2016 to 2022, they worked as a Staff Spacecraft Engineer at Maxar Technologies, where they were responsible for health and safety trending, performance optimization, and anomaly resolution for the current constellation. John was also an individual contributor in flight software design and V&V, and author of ground system command procedures for the next generation of spacecraft. Currently, they work as a Senior Engineer at Earth Observant Inc.

John Kearns received a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo in 2012, following a five-year program that began in 2007. John then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, which they completed in 2015.
