Chinmay Soman

Co-founder and CEO at EarthSense

Chinmay Soman has a long history of work experience. Chinmay began their career in 2000 as an Undergraduate Research Associate at the National Chemical Laboratory. In 2002, they became a Research Assistant and Teaching Assistant at Vanderbilt University, where they invented a nanomaterials-based cancer diagnostics platform and wrote major portions of two grant proposals that were awarded $100,000 each. In 2009, they founded and served as Principal of Dharani Consulting. In 2011, they became a Post-Doctoral Research Associate at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, and in 2014, they founded and became CEO of Movable Objects, Inc. In 2015, they co-founded the AgMicrobiomes Consortium, and in 2016 they became Co-founder and CEO of EarthSense, Inc. and Lead Engineer at Soil Diagnostics, Inc., where they developed the chemistry, sensing technology, and analytics for FertiSaverN.

Chinmay Soman completed their B.E. in Metallurgy from COEP Technological University between 1998 and 2002. Chinmay then went on to pursue a PhD in Interdisciplinary Materials Science at Vanderbilt University, which they completed in 2008. In 2009, they obtained a Certificate in Sustainable Systems Design from the Permaculture Research Institute, USA. In 2012, they earned a Certificate in Entrepreneurship and Management from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Finally, in 2016, they obtained a Machine Learning Certificate from Coursera Course Certificates.
