Executive Director For Alternative Education & Graduation Excellence at East Baton Rouge Parish School System

Larry James has extensive work experience in the education sector. Larry is currently serving as the Executive Director for Alternative Education & Graduation Excellence at the East Baton Rouge Parish School System. Prior to this, they worked as a Community Outreach Specialist & Funeral Director Intern at Winnfield Funeral Home.

Before joining the East Baton Rouge Parish School System, Larry held various positions in different school districts. Larry was the Senior Director, Student Supports & School Support Officer at the Camden City School District, where they also served as a Principal, Bilingual. Larry also worked as an Assistant Principal at both the Cobb County School District and Houston ISD.

In addition to their roles in education, Larry has experience in counseling and human resources. Larry worked as a Mobile Therapist at Northern Children's Services and as a Bilingual School Counselor at The School District of Philadelphia. Larry also served as a Human Resources Business Partner at Around The Clock Home Care and as a Human Resources Assistant at Harmony Academy.

Larry James attended several institutions to pursue their education. Larry first obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Spanish Education from Troy University in 2005. The following year, they obtained another Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in English Education & Spanish from Georgia State University. In 2009, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Guidance & Counseling from St. Thomas University, which they completed in 2010. Later, in 2011, they obtained a Master of Science (M.S.) in Educational Leadership and Administration from St. Thomas University. Larry continued their education and earned an M.S. in Human Capital Development from LaSalle University in 2013. Lastly, they are currently pursuing a Doctor of Law - JD degree from the Southern University Law Center, which they are expected to complete in 2025. Additionally, Larry holds a Superintendent Letter of Eligibility from PennWest California.
