George Syrop

George Syrop serves as Hayward's youngest elected at-large Councilmember and the Council's only renter, actively representing the city's 163,000 residents since December 2022. In addition to this role, George holds the position of Communications & Marketing Manager at East Bay Permanent Real Estate Cooperative, focusing on conveying its mission to the public. Previous experience includes managing a successful corporate-free campaign for Hayward City Council, providing consulting services through SyropCo, and contributing as a product designer for a venture-backed startup. George's educational background includes a Bachelor's Degree in Political Science and a Post Baccalaureate in City/Urban, Community, and Regional Planning from the University of California, Berkeley.
