Amanda McGee serves as the AVP and Deputy General Counsel for the health center. Amanda joined the health center in July of 2019 as Assistant General Counsel, and became Deputy General Counsel the following year. In this role, Amanda coordinates legal and compliance strategic decision making and day-to-day operations for the Legal and Government Affairs Department. Her practice spans all aspects of legal and corporate compliance for the health center, including regulatory compliance, litigation, and general corporate matters such as contract management, mergers and acquisitions, employment and labor issues, immigration, real estate, and tax matters. Since she has joined the organization, Amanda supported the health center’s acquisition of the South End Community Health Center, 21st Century CURES Act implementation, and was the Governance/Administration team lead for the 2021 HRSA On Site Visit. Amanda also counsels the Board of Directors and provides legal oversight for the organization’s ongoing response to the COVID pandemic, including regulatory compliance, new projects and initiatives, and telehealth and telecommuting/remote work.
Prior to joining the health center in 2019, Amanda was a senior litigation associate at an international law firm where her practice focused on federal class actions and regulatory inquiries in the banking and financial institutions industries. Amanda graduated from Amherst College in 2004 with a Bachelor of Arts in History and earned her J.D. at the University of Virginia School of Law, where she served as a Dillard Fellow and was an Executive Editor for the Journal of Law and Politics. In addition to her responsibilities at the health center, Amanda serves on the Board of the Friends of the Duxbury Free Library, which supports her town’s public library.
