Janet Spector Bishop has over 30 years of experience in communications and marketing. Janet currently serves as the Director of Communications for East Maine School District 63, where they have built and manages a strategic communications program for the district. Prior to this, Janet was the Senior Manager of Marketing at Oakton Community College, where they oversaw internal and external marketing initiatives. Janet also served as the Communications Director for the Village of Glenview, where they developed and managed the municipality's strategic communications program. Janet has a background in nonprofit work, having worked as the Communications Director for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation - Illinois Chapter and as the Vice President of Resource Development for Lakefront Supportive Housing. Janet began their career as a Development & Marketing Associate at The Family Institute at Northwestern University and as a Public Relations & Editorial Assistant for the YMCA of the USA. Janet's experience includes branding, media relations, web content, graphic design, advertising, and fundraising.

Janet Spector Bishop obtained their education from various institutions. Janet first attended Ernest W. Seaholm High School from 1978 to 1981, where they earned their High School Diploma. Following that, they pursued their Bachelor of Arts degree with a cum laude distinction at Washington University in St. Louis from 1981 to 1985. Their fields of study during this time were English Literature and History. Subsequently, from 1986 to 1988, they pursued a Master of Arts degree in English Literature at Northwestern University. Lastly, they attended the University of Minnesota from 1988 to 1990 to acquire a Master of Arts degree in Public Affairs.
