Michael Mauro has extensive experience in education and child services, currently serving as a Teacher and holding various leadership roles such as Elementary Science Chair and Elementary Social Studies Chair at East Penn School District since March 2009. Prior experience includes working as an Investigator for Children & Youth Services at Lehigh County from May 2003 to December 2007, and as a Program Coordinator at Devereux Advanced Behavioral Health from April 2000 to March 2002. Michael Mauro has pursued advanced education, currently working towards a Master's degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology at Harvard Extension School (2021-2025), alongside a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Lehigh University (2014-2016) and a Teaching Certificate in Education from Muhlenberg College (2007-2009), following a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from Penn State University (1996-2000).

The East Penn School District is located in the Lehigh Valley’s metropolitan area which has a total population of a half million people. With proximity to New York City, Philadelphia, the Pocono Mountains and the New Jersey shore, East Penn is an ideal location that is experiencing residential and business growth. The East Penn staff consists of approximately 565 professional and 505 support members, with 90% of the teachers holding a master’s degree or beyond. In addition to attending many workshops and conferences each year, every professional employee participates in various workshops and training activities through the Employee Development Program to enhance their particular skills. Members of our professional staff are resource persons for state, national and international conferences, adjunct college professors and published writers and researchers.
