Dominic Ng joined East West Bank in May 1991. As its Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, he has since grown a small savings and loan into one of “America’s Best Banks” (Forbes), with over $45 billion in assets.
Mr. Ng graduated from the University of Houston and received an honorary Doctor of Laws degree from Occidental College. He is on the board of Mattel, Inc. and on the board of trustees at the University of Southern California (USC) and the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Mr. Ng was named by the Los Angeles Business Journal as Business Person of the Year, by Forbes as one of the 25 most notable Chinese Americans, and by the Los Angeles Times as one of the 100 most influential people in Los Angeles. American Banker also recognized Mr. Ng as Banker of the Year, for successfully executing his vision while maintaining discipline on credit, and building East West into one of the nation’s most profitable regional banks. Mr. Ng is a frequent speaker on banking, economics, arts and culture, and philanthropy. In 2016, Mr. Ng received the United Way Alexis de Tocqueville Global Award presented by United Way Worldwide in recognition of his exceptional and sustained engagement and philanthropic leadership for the past two decades. In addition, Mr. Ng’s commitment to expanding U.S.-China cultural understanding helped bring contemporary Chinese art into the L.A. County Museum of Art (LACMA) and the Museum of Contemporary Art, L.A. (MOCA)’s permanent collection.
A former director of the Federal Reserve Bank of San Francisco, Los Angeles Branch, Mr. Ng’s previous board service also includes PacifiCare Health Systems, Asia Society and Committee of 100, among others.
