Aziz Mithani

Aziz Mithani is a highly experienced professional in the field of bioinformatics and computational biology, currently serving as the Scientific Training Lead at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) since June 2022. Prior to this role, Aziz was an Associate Professor at Lahore University of Management Sciences from January 2012 to June 2022, where significant contributions were made in research, teaching, and institutional capacity building. Aziz also held the position of Head of the Biology Department at LUMS, overseeing faculty hiring and departmental administration. Previous experience includes a postdoctoral researcher role at the University of Oxford, focusing on next-generation sequencing data analysis, and a programmer analyst position at Aga Khan University. Aziz holds a Ph.D. in Statistics (Computational Biology) from the University of Oxford, along with an MPhil from the University of Cambridge, and multiple degrees in computer science.
