Donna Washtell

Donna Washtell, MA CIIC, serves as the Internal Communications Officer at the European Bioinformatics Institute (EMBL-EBI) since June 2021 and has also held the position of Executive Assistant to Professor Ewan Birney. Previously, Donna was the Head of Communications & Administration at Cambridge Epigenetix, where responsibilities included developing communications strategies for innovative cancer diagnostics. Donna's past roles include Senior Corporate Relations Manager at ERBA Molecular, PA to the SVP at Mundipharma International, Executive Assistant to the CEO & CFO at Lab 21, Office Manager & EA to the Director of European Research at Eastman Kodak, and Executive Assistant to the CEO at Cytomyx Plc and Vernalis Plc. Donna's career began with secretarial roles at British Printing and Cambridge Probation Service. Donna holds an MA in Internal Communication Management from Solent University and additional qualifications from The Open University and Soham Village College.
