Gemma Wood

Gemma Wood has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in different organizations. Gemma currently holds the position of Head of Communications at the European Bioinformatics Institute | EMBL-EBI since September 2020. Prior to this, they served as the Head of External Affairs (interim) at The Francis Crick Institute from July 2019 to September 2020. Gemma has also worked as the Head of Public Affairs at EngineeringUK from September 2016 to August 2019. Additionally, they have served as a Trustee at AVERT from September 2003 to October 2018. Gemma has also held the role of Strategic Relationships Manager at The Nursing and Midwifery Council from September 2013 to September 2016. Gemma has experience in fundraising and policy advocacy, having worked as the Fundraising Manager and later as the Policy and Parliamentary Manager at Family Lives from August 2009 to September 2013. Gemma has also worked as a Senior Parliamentary Officer at The Office of the Children's Commissioner for England from August 2007 to August 2009, and as a Parliamentary Officer at Help the Aged from 2006 to 2007.

Gemma Wood attended the University of Sussex from 1999 to 2002 and completed their degree in Politics with a 2:1. In 2016, they participated in a strategic social media manager training program at Digital Mums.
