Ronny Dewaele has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning several decades. Ronny started their career at Picanol as a Project Manager in Software, where they worked from August 1988 to March 1992. Ronny then joined Infosoft as a Project Manager for Custom Software, leading multiple teams and handling full project implementations from April 1992 to March 1995.
In 1995, Ronny transitioned to the role of Sales Engineer at a startup called Control Rooms, where they played a crucial role in developing control room business in Europe and Latin America. Ronny supported the internal and partner sales force in winning technical challenging projects in various industries such as Telecom, Traffic management, Utilities, and Process control markets. Ronny worked at Control Rooms until February 1998.
After leaving Control Rooms, Ronny joined Barco as a Senior Sales Engineer, where they led a worldwide team of sales engineers and provided support to the internal and partner sales force in selling complex control room visualization solutions across vertical markets. Ronny also organized sales trainings and assisted in winning large deals globally. Ronny spent a little over a year at Barco in this role, from March 1998 to September 1999.
Subsequently, Ronny became a Product Manager in Broadcast at Barco, where they built the i-Studio product line and expanded the control room business into the Broadcast market. Ronny led an agile team in developing new hardware and software solutions and organized a dedicated sales team for engagement with leading Broadcast and Telecom companies worldwide. Ronny served in this role from September 1999 to February 2002.
In March 2002, Ronny transitioned to the role of VP of Product Management and Marketing for Control Rooms at Barco. Ronny focused on transforming control room systems from traditional AV to IT-based networked visualization offers and built a coherent offering across various vertical market segments such as Utilities, Process Control, Surveillance, Defense, and Broadcast. Ronny held this position until March 2007.
From March 2007 to February 2009, Ronny served as the VP of Product Management and R&D for Control Rooms at Barco. Ronny defined and executed the roadmap for networked visualization solutions in control room applications and guided R&D and product management teams across multiple locations. Ronny successfully won and deployed large real-time video networks for major Broadcast service customers.
Ronny then took on the role of Director of the Technology Center at Barco, where they led a nimble team focused on scouting and exploring new technologies that could influence future product development. Ronny defined the software and network-centric strategy and brought it to reality in new business segments in Healthcare and Corporate applications. Ronny held this position from February 2009 to June 2013.
Following that, Ronny became the Director of Marketing for Networked Visualization at Barco. Ronny explored the AV market for new opportunities in software and network-centric converged solutions. Their approach included applying Design Thinking methods for discovery and validation of innovation tracks. Ronny held this role from June 2013 to November 2014.
Finally, Ronny served as the VP of Learning Experience at Barco, where they built and led a startup-agile organization. Ronny executed a Design Thinking exercise to draft a business case on the Ed-Tech opportunity, establishing a first for the company. Ronny collaborated to build and deliver a cloud-based SaaS solution for active learning in higher education and business schools. Ronny successfully crossed the chasm with over 50 active references and achieved wins in universities, business schools, and corporate learning centers. Ronny joined Barco in this position in November 2014 and was still employed at the company at the time of this information.
Additionally, Ronny is also a Co-Owner of Polygonwood since October 2020, indicating their involvement in entrepreneurship alongside their corporate career.
Ronny Dewaele obtained a Master of Applied Science degree in Computer Science - Applied Mathematics from KU Leuven. Ronny pursued their education at the university from the year 1983 to 1988.
