Sonny Goyal

Sonny Goyal is a Vice President and Head of Corporate Development at Blue Cross North Carolina. In this role, he manages execution across all aspects of BCNC’s inorganic growth strategies.

As an Advisor to the Echo Health Ventures Strategic Investment Team, Sonny participates as a full team member to identify and evaluate, invest in and grow innovative companies in the Echo Health Ventures portfolio. Sonny works closely with the Echo Health Ventures senior leaders, investment partners and the Market Development Team to add his experience and guidance to the value creation process which is at the core of the Echo Health Ventures mission.

Prior to joining Echo, Sonny served as a Managing Director in the Corporate Strategy & Development Group at The Advisory Board Company spearheading acquisitions, strategic partnerships and new product launches. Sonny also worked in the Corporate Development Group at Highmark BlueCross BlueShield leading acquisitions in several areas of the company including insurance programs, healthcare services and HCIT. Sonny has over 15 years of experience in M&A and finance roles that include work at Wells Fargo Securities and Merrill Lynch.

Sonny received a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tufts University and a Master’s in Business Administration from the University of North Carolina. Sonny lives in Durham where he enjoys traveling and cooking in his spare time.
