Marissa Cuevas Flores is the Founder and CEO of microTERRA, specializing in sustainable production of functional ingredients for the plant-based food industry using aquatic plants. Marissa serves as a Fellow at Echoing Green, focusing on nurturing emerging social change leaders, and has been involved with National Geographic as a Grantee and Explorer since 2018. Previously, Marissa contributed to the UNLEASH innovation lab for Sustainable Development Goal 6, was a Fellow at Singularity University, and held consulting roles at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH. Marissa is also the founder of Kitcel, an initiative aimed at recycling Styrofoam, and has a strong educational background with a Master of Science in Sustainability Management from Columbia University and a degree in Energy and Process Engineering from Technische Universität Berlin.
