Michael McDowell, MPA has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of probation and rehabilitation. Michael began their career as a Juvenile Probation Officer with the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice in 1999, where they developed supervision plans, monitored juvenile offenders, and testified during revocation procedures. In 2002, McDowell joined the U.S. Probation Office, Middle District of North Carolina, as a United States Probation Officer. In this role, they prepared investigative reports and supervised federal offenders for the U.S. District Court. McDowell's most recent position was with Eckerd Connects, where they served as the Operations Director from June 2022. Prior to that, they held roles such as Regional Manager, Area Manager, Site Manager, and Career Coach within the organization. McDowell's responsibilities included ensuring program performance goals were met, interpreting legislation and guidelines for implementation, establishing policies and procedures, and delivering skills training to justice-involved individuals. Michael McDowell, MPA holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science and Government from North Carolina Central University, which was obtained from 1989 to 1993. Michael also obtained a Master's degree in Public Administration from the same university, completed from 1994 to 2000. Currently, they are pursuing a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Correctional Leadership at Liberty University, starting in 2019 and expected to finish in 2023.
