Colleen Shields has been a trial attorney for more than 20 years. She focuses her practice in the area of civil litigation defending complex cases in the areas of professional negligence, products liability, premises liability, sexual abuse, and general commercial liability. Colleen has represented physicians and individual health care providers in nearly every medical specialty and has tried numerous medical malpractice cases successfully to verdict. Colleen also represents community hospitals and academic medical centers in matters involving individual claims as well as class action suits. She is also currently engaged in defending manufacturers in science-driven state and multi-district litigation involving medical devices and pharmaceuticals.
In addition to health care professionals, Colleen represents individual attorneys and law firms who are involved in civil litigation or who may be facing disciplinary charges. She also has extensive experience in defending and serving as trial counsel to corporations and non-profit organizations in claims of institutional negligence involving allegations of sexual misconduct. In 2009, Colleen obtained a defense verdict in favor of a private high school and religious order following a jury trial in a high profile case involving allegations of clergy sexual abuse.
