Peter Carr is a seasoned business litigator who appears regularly before various federal and state courts, administrative agencies, and arbitral panels. Peter has significant trial experience across a wide range of topics and industries, including financial services litigation in defense of lenders and mortgage loan servicers, joint venture litigation, financial services transactional, and partnership litigation. Peter has tried over 25 cases to verdict in jury trials, bench trials, arbitrations, and before administrative agencies.
Peter’s wide range of cases has also resulted in broad appellate experience, and he has argued appeals before the Massachusetts Appeals Court, Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, Rhode Island Supreme Court, and First Circuit Court of Appeals.
Based upon Peter’s active involvement in litigation matters, clients, as well as other partners in the firm, routinely call upon him to perform a risk assessment to assist in making informed business decisions or providing business counseling on non-litigation matters. In addition to his active litigation practice, Peter represents private independent schools throughout New England in establishing policies, procedures, strategies, and best practices that promote positive working and learning environments while limiting potential liability exposure.
The foundation of his practice is the philosophy that effective legal counsel must be consistent with a school’s unique community and culture. He works collaboratively with independent school leaders, actively joining their team in order to fully understand the school’s operations, mission, and environment, which allows him to help them achieve their goals in the manner that best meets the needs of the institution. Extensive and daily interaction with independent schools provides him with the ability to track trends and patterns and understand the nuances specific to independent schools.
