Alexa Bednarz has a diverse work experience. Alexa began their career in 2011 as a Student Fundraiser for the Office of Annual Giving at the University of Washington. That same year, they also worked as a Development Coordinator Intern for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alaska & Washington. In 2012, they joined the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation as a Program Assistant for the Polio Eradication & Vaccine Delivery program. Over the next several years, they held various roles at the Foundation, including Associate Program Officer for Global Health and Senior Program Coordinator for Integrated Delivery. In 2017, they founded and became the CEO of Eco-Shelter Inc., an early-stage company developing low carbon, cost-competitive roofing and building products. In 2019, they were selected as a Global Shaper for the World Economic Forum's Seattle Hub, where they lead and collaborates on projects addressing health equity and climate justice for the Greater Seattle Area community.

Alexa Bednarz received a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from the University of Washington. Alexa then obtained a Certificate of Business Development in Entrepreneurship/Entrepreneurial Studies from the same university. Additionally, they obtained a Certificate of Sales in Selling Skills and Sales Operations from the University of Washington - Michael G. Foster School of Business. Finally, in June 2018, they obtained a SOAR Leadership Development Certificate from SOAR.
