Joel Aitken

Joel Aitken is an experienced professional in organic agriculture and certification, currently serving on the Canadian Organic Standards 2025 Review Working Groups with the Organic Federation of Canada as of September 2023. Since 2010, Joel has been the Division Manager for Evaluations at Ecocert Canada, overseeing organic inspections across various Canadian regions, alongside roles in organic inspection and certification. Joel has also contributed as an Organic Certification Consultant with Local Food Finder and served on the Board of Directors for the Organic Council of Ontario from 2014 to 2021. Additional experience includes biodynamic inspections with Demeter Canada, agricultural research, and educational roles. Joel holds a Master of Science in Capacity Development and Extension and a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Science from the University of Guelph, complemented by certifications in organic inspection training.
