Ecoexist Trust works in the panhandle area of Botswana's Okavango Delta, where part of the worlds largest free-roaming elephant herd coexists with 50,000+ people, competing for the same land and water. We support farming communities, helping them to turn competition into sustainable, mutually beneficial coexistence.

The core challenge: elephants cross farmland at night and can destroy crops in hours, wiping out a family's food supply for the year. Across our region, farmers once lost up to 40% of their harvest on average. The pressure to fence out, shoot or relocate elephants grew every season.

Now our team of 35 runs 10 integrated programmes, in a holistic long-term approach to promote coexistence, with very different outcomes, including:
•	We’ve tracked 60+ GPS-collared elephants to identify critical habitat, understand movement patterns, and predict and prevent crop raids
•	We protect 13+ formal wildlife corridors with Botswana's land authority
•	We run safe community transport for school children and nurses through elephant corridors using an “elephant express bus” service.
•	We work with farmers on developing an elephant-aware agriculture model, cutting crop losses to below 10%.
•	We link farmers with new markets for surplus millet at premium prices e.g. the Okavango Brewing Company.
•	We strengthen community governance to support a community-led approach.
•	We support and diversify SME start-ups so more people benefit from living with elephants, creating an elephant aware economy.
•	We build evidence and fill knowledge gaps through our research & monitoring programme.

We work alongside many partners, incl various Ministries at the Government of Botswana, the KAZA Transfrontier Conservation Area secretariat and the IUCN African Elephant Specialist Group. We’re always keen to speak with impact investors, donors, journalists, conservationists, policymakers and researchers. You can reach us on info@ecoexisttrust.org or CEO@ecoexisttrust.org
