Ecological Society of America
Alison Mize is an experienced professional in public affairs and communications with a strong background in environmental policy and education. Currently serving as the Director of Public Affairs for the Ecological Society of America since April 2014, Alison directs policy and media operations while collaborating with various organizations to advocate for science at the federal level. Prior roles include Senior Analyst at the U.S. Department of Energy's EERE, where Alison developed a strategic communication plan for hybrid and electric vehicles, and Director of Policy at the Alice Ferguson Foundation, leading a multi-state community initiative with numerous partnerships. Alison also served as Director of Communications and Outreach for the Northern Virginia Conservation Trust, Program Director at PAL focused on environmental education for youth, and an Animal Keeper at the Smithsonian National Zoological Park, where educational presentations were made to visitors. Alison holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration with a minor in Management from Belmont University.

Ecological Society of America
The Ecological Society of America is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization of scientists founded in 1915 to promote ecological science by improving communication among ecologists; raise the public’s level of awareness of the importance of ecological science; increase the resources available for the conduct of ecological science; and ensure the appropriate use of ecological science in environmental decision making by enhancing communication between the ecological community and policy-makers. The 9,000 member Society publishes 6 journals, convenes an annual scientific conference, and broadly shares ecological information through policy and media outreach and education initiatives.
