Rachel Havrelock

Board Member at EcoPeace Middle East

Rachel Havrelock is a Professor at the University of Illinois Chicago and a Fellow at the UIC Great Cities Institute, with extensive experience in water management and education. As Senior Principal Investigator for significant grants such as the "Freshwater Lab Internship Program" and "Rivers of Illinois," Rachel leads initiatives aimed at enhancing public understanding of Great Lakes water issues and fostering leadership in water stewardship. Rachel is the Founder and Director of The Freshwater Lab, an initiative dedicated to community engagement and the visualization of water data. Additionally, experience includes serving as a Board Member for EcoPeace Middle East, co-curating the Chicago Humanities Festival's "Deep Dive: Great Lakes" series, and holding various academic positions, including visiting fellowships at prestigious institutions. Rachel holds a PhD in Near and Middle Eastern Studies and a Bachelor's degree in Comparative Literature from the University of California, Berkeley and University of California, Santa Cruz, respectively.
