Joaquin Buenaventura

Joaquin Buenaventura, P. Eng. is a seasoned engineering professional with extensive experience in reservoir development and simulation, currently serving as Principal Reservoir & Simulation Engineer at Ecopetrol since August 2019. In this role, Joaquin leads the North Offshore Gas Caribe project cluster in Colombia, focusing on reservoir-to-surface simulations and economic analyses for offshore gas fields. Previous positions include Senior Reservoir Development Engineer roles at CAYROS, Gran Tierra Energy, and Cayros Group, where Joaquin made significant contributions such as optimizing field operations and developing dual porosity models that enhanced production and extended field life. Joaquin's career began at Schlumberger, where expertise in enhanced oil recovery and production optimization was developed.
