♻️ EcoPlast – Empowering Circular Operations in the Automotive Plastics Value Chain
EcoPlast is a Horizon Europe-funded project (Grant Agreement No. 101182147) working to reshape the plastics industry by developing bio-based, biodegradable, and circular plastic materials. The project brings together advanced biotechnology, eco-design, and AI-driven modelling to enable scalable and sustainable plastic alternatives.

🌱 Our Goals:
- Replace fossil-based plastics with innovative, bio-based, and biodegradable materials.
- Use microbial and enzymatic processes to enhance recyclability and biodegradability.
- Support circular design with Digital Product Passports (DPPs), integrating Life - Cycle Assessment (LCA) and Circularity Indicators (CI) to track and optimise environmental performance.

💡 What Makes Us Unique:
- AI-powered predictive modelling to guide materials development.
- Integration of DPPs for traceability, quality control, and informed reuse.
- Development of Digital Twins for process optimisation in plastics manufacturing.
- A data-driven approach to eco-innovation, ensuring transparency and impact across the full value chain.

🌍 With a consortium of top-tier research institutes, industry leaders, and sustainability experts across Europe, EcoPlast aims to advance the EU’s Green Deal and Circular Economy Action Plan by turning today’s plastic challenges into tomorrow’s solutions.
