Spencer Aertker's work experience begins in 2011 as a Construction Laborer for AERTKER CONST INC, where they performed various tasks related to construction site operation and preparation. Spencer then transitioned to the Colorado School of Mines in 2016, becoming a PhD student and later an Adjunct Instructor, Graduate Teaching Assistant, and Graduate Lab Assistant. During their time at the Colorado School of Mines, they taught courses, conducted research, and received the Teaching Assistant Excellence Award. In 2021, Spencer joined ARPA-E as a Tech SETA, supporting the scouting, management, and development of new programs related to critical minerals, carbon removal technologies, and geologic H-Spencer recovery. In 2022, they also worked as a Lead Scientist for Booz Allen Hamilton, contributing to program development and portfolio management for the Department of Energy's Advanced Research and Projects Agency (ARPA-E). Currently, Spencer holds the position of Head of Mining and Carbon Mineralization at EDEN.
Spencer Aertker completed a Bachelor's Degree in Geology-professional: Geophysics from Louisiana State University in 2015. Spencer also pursued another Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management during the same period. Later, they attended the Colorado School of Mines from 2016 to 2021, where they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Geochemistry.
