Lead Offshore Mooring Engineer at EDF Renewables

Krishnaveni Balakrishnan has a diverse range of experience in the fields of renewable energy and structural engineering. Krishnaveni currently holds the position of Lead Offshore Mooring Engineer at EDF Renewables North America, where they are responsible for overseeing the mooring systems for offshore wind projects. Prior to that, they worked as an Offshore Foundation Engineer at the same company.

Before joining EDF Renewables, Krishnaveni worked as a Researcher at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, focusing on wake effects and dynamics of multiline anchors for floating offshore wind turbines. Krishnaveni also served as a Wind Energy Fellow and Graduate Teaching Assistant during their time at the university.

Krishnaveni has also gained valuable experience as a Scientist (Offshore Structures) at the National Institute of Ocean Technology, where they contributed to the establishment of the country's first offshore LiDAR data collection platform and developed numerical models for extracting P-Y curves for monopiles used in offshore wind turbines.

In addition, they worked as an Engineering Consultant at L&T Ramboll Consulting Engineers Pvt Ltd, where they were involved in the design of steel composite bridge superstructures and various foundation types. Krishnaveni also gained research experience as a Research Intern at the STRUCTURAL ENGINEERING RESEARCH CENTER CSIR.

Krishnaveni started their career with summer internships at IIT Madras and BIRLA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY AND SCIENCE, PILANI, where they gained practical experience in their field.

Currently, Krishnaveni is enrolled in the University of Massachusetts Amherst, where they are working towards their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Structural Engineering, expected to be completed in 2024. In addition to their formal education, Krishnaveni has obtained several certifications, including "Writing a Cover Letter" from LinkedIn and "Matlab Onramp" from MathWorks.
