Alex Rius

Alex Rius is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in sustainable engineering and green building design. Currently serving as Managing Director at ALEX RIUS CONSULTANTS and Technical Director at SustainCRE, Alex focuses on enhancing project efficiency and transitioning end-of-life properties. Alex also holds positions as Director at Etopia International and EDGE Expert at EDGE Buildings, providing technical support for certification and design in sustainable architecture. Previously, Alex was Chief International Design & Sustainability Officer and Chief Operating Officer at Project Etopia, where responsibilities included delivering innovative and energy-conscious built environments. As the founder and Managing Director of EDIFICA Ltd and co-founder of Designs for Nature Ltd, Alex led teams in delivering integrated services for new buildings and retrofits while overseeing construction project management. Academic qualifications include a Master of Science in Environmental Design of Buildings from the Welsh School of Architecture and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Studies from The Open University.
