Jennifer Black

Principal System Safety Engineer at Edge Case Research

Jennifer Black has a diverse work experience spanning multiple roles and industries. Jennifer began their career at Lucent Technologies in 2000, working as a System Verification Engineer and later transitioning to the role of Technical Support Engineer. In 2002, they joined Carnegie Mellon University as a Research Assistant, where they focused on safety-critical systems, embedded systems, software safety, dependability, and autonomous vehicle testing in the General Motors Collaborative Research Lab. Most recently, Jennifer has been employed at Edge Case Research, where they started in 2015 as a Lead Engineer and then progressed to the role of Principal System Safety Engineer in September 2021.

Jennifer Black earned a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from The Ohio State University between 1994 and 2000. Following this, they pursued a Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University from 2002 to 2009.
