Bees and grasshoppers were never backtested; their intelligence emerged through pure Darwinian elitism. Only the most adaptive behaviors survived and propagated, while fragile patterns were discarded by nature itself. Their success lies in this relentless evolutionary filtering: grasshoppers mastered nonlinear swarm exploration, bees perfected collective resource allocation. In asset management, the same principle applies. Robust portfolios and agents cannot be overfitted to the past; they must evolve under live competitive pressure, where only the fittest allocation rules persist. Just as the hive institutionalizes resilience and the swarm avoids stagnation, agent incubation thrives by applying elitist selection—ensuring that every new generation of strategies inherits strength, not fragility.
