David Haynes

David Haynes currently serves as Programme Leader for Business Information Technology at Edinburgh Napier University, where responsibilities include teaching and research within the School of Computing and engaging with the Social Informatics research group. Research interests encompass Knowledge Organizing Systems, Information Governance, Online Safety, and Digital Literacy. David also holds the position of Honorary Tutor at the University of Dundee, focusing on the Metadata and Taxonomy module in the post-graduate Records Management programme. Previous roles include IC Postdoctoral Research Fellow at City, University of London, where David explored risk in the privacy calculus, and Director of Aspire Squared Ltd, providing consultancy in information management. Additional experience includes GDPR implementation at the Natural History Museum, various academic lectureships, and project management roles in national initiatives. David earned a PhD in Information Science/Studies from City, University of London, building on earlier qualifications in Information Science and Chemistry.
