Matt Sinclair

Matt Sinclair is a Design Council Expert, actively involved in advocating for design and sharing best practices since June 2024. Currently, Matt serves as the Head of Design, Photography and Advertising at Edinburgh Napier University, starting in August 2022, while also fulfilling the role of External Examiner for the joint MA/MSc in Global Innovation Design at Imperial College London since June 2019. Previously, Matt held the position of Programme Director for Industrial Design at Loughborough University from September 2012 to September 2022 and operated as Creative Director of Matt Sinclair Design, a product design consultancy in Helsinki, from February 2004 to September 2013. Academic credentials include a Ph.D. from Loughborough University and an MA in Industrial Design Engineering from the Royal College of Art. Additionally, Matt's expertise encompasses rapid manufacturing, mass customisation, 3D printing, and consumer co-design, complemented by experience as a contributing writer for PingMag Japan and various roles at Nokia Design.
