Bill Beattie

Superintendent at Edison Local School District

Superintendent Bill Beattie began his career with the Edison Local School District in 1989 as an Elementary physical education teacher for two years. During this time, he also served as the Head Baseball coach for 16 seasons. Mr. Beattie has worked as a special education teacher, the Work Study coordinator and Special Education coordinator before serving as the Stanton Elementary Assistant Principal in 2007. Mr. Beattie was named Assistant Superintendent in 2008 and assumed the role of Superintendent in the summer of 2012.

Mr. Beattie earned his bachelor’s degree in education from the West Liberty State College and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Salem International University. He earned is Superintendent’s License in 2010 and holds additional certifications and licensures for K-12 Principal and Special Education.

Mr. Beattie’s professional affiliations include serving as secretary of the Eastern Ohio Special Coordinator Association, founder and president of the Buckeye Mountaineer Athletic Conference, member of the Board of Directors for Ohio Mid-Eastern Regional Educational Service Agency and serves a committee member for a variety of educational-related councils and committees. Mr. Beattie was inducted into the Eastern District Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 2013 and was inducted into the West Liberty University Hall of Fame in 2017.

Mr. Beattie resides in Wintersville and is happily married to his wife Nancy. Their son, Brien, graduated from Steubenville in 2016 and attends The Ohio State University majoring in Computer Science and Engineering. Their daughter, Brooke, graduated from Edison High School in 2017 and is enrolled in the Scott School of Cosmetology in East Liverpool, Ohio.
