Karen Principe

Trustee at EDMONTON PUBLIC LIBRARY

Karen lived in Winnipeg and Toronto before settling in Edmonton in 1998. She has been a resident of ward tastawiyiniwak with her husband for 23 years, and an active member of the community, volunteering at Kilkenny Playschool, Evansdale School, and St. John Bosco School where her three children previously attended. As a family, the Principes enjoy volunteering at the Edmonton Food Bank and the Edmonton Christmas Bureau. Their rescue dog, Patrick, supports volunteering efforts where he can.

Karen attended the University of Manitoba, the University of Winnipeg, and Durham College, then began her career as a Registered Dental Hygienist in 1998. She has worked both in private practice and as an instructor at NAIT in the Dental Assisting Program and volunteers her time at 'Free Dental Day' to offer free dental services to those in need. Karen has pursued this passion abroad in the past with a week-long dental mission in Peru being a highlight. In addition to her dental career, Karen was also a former small business owner.
