Mário Simões

Mário Simões has a diverse background in innovation and project management within the energy sector, currently serving as a Corporate Venture Builder and Innovation Project Lead at EDP since December 2016, focusing on renewable energy, green hydrogen, and decarbonization solutions. Prior experience includes roles as a Senior Technology Expert at EDP, leading energy storage market development initiatives, and as a former Venture Builder Lead at ONAU, where Mário contributed to net-zero transition strategies for commercial and industrial clients. Mário's earlier positions include project management at Swatch Group, postdoctoral research in lithium-ion battery technology at Empa and Ynvisible, and engineering roles in gas power plants at Dalkia Energia e Serviços. Mário holds a Ph.D. in Electrochemistry/Materials Science from Université de Poitiers and an Engineer's Degree in Electrical Engineering from Instituto Superior Técnico.
