Gyan Shala enables children from poor urban and rural families to attain learning levels of school education similar to that of the children in elite schools. 
Started in 2000 and promoted by a group of faculty members from IIM Ahmedabad & IRMA, Gyan Shala imparted high quality education to around 45,000 children in 9 cities across 4 states in 2015-2016. Gyan Shala is one of the largest NGO programs in India addressing schooling quality gaps and enabling poor slum children from minority, marginalized, and migrant communities join the professional class of tomorrow. With the focus on outcomes, Gyan Shala has performed independent quality assessments of children's learning levels from reputed external agencies.  Gyan Shala program has been endorsed by various national and international agencies:
- JPAL, MIT-USA: Gyan Shala children scored 100 - 150% more marks compared to government schools in 2004. Educational Initiative (EI) noted similar results, 2008 -2011
- ASSET, EI, India: Gyan Shala children on par with India’s best CBSE and elite schools, 2011-2015 
- CfBT–UK (2010 & 2013): Gyan Shala program rating on par with 35% UK public schools, and 50% Dubai International Schools

The School Operations Team at Gyan Shala is responsible for the seamless and effective functioning of day-to-day school activities. They ensure that schools adhere to the program's high educational standards, manage relationships with school stakeholders, monitor and evaluate educational outcomes, and coordinate resources and support for schools. Their goal is to maintain operational excellence and uphold the quality of education provided to children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
