Marty Starnes

Marty Starnes is an experienced education professional with a diverse background in leadership roles within the Gaston County Schools system and educational consulting. Currently serving as a Hearing Officer and Executive Director of Middle Grades Education at Gaston County Schools since June 2017, Marty also operates a consulting business since February 2013, focusing on educational turnaround strategies and mentorship. Previous roles include Principal at East Gaston High School, overseeing the education of over 1600 students and managing a staff of 122, and Executive Director of Middle Grades Education for Gaston County Schools, where Marty directed curriculum and instruction and managed a substantial budget. Marty’s educational background includes a Master’s degree in Education, Counseling, and School Administration from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Bachelor’s degree in English from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
