Johannes Pollanen

Co-Founder, CSO at EeroQ Quantum Hardware

Johannes Pollanen has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Johannes began their career as a Research Assistant at the Laboratory for Nuclear Astrophysics (LENA). Later, they worked as a Graduate Student and Research Assistant at the Halperin ULT Lab Northwestern Physics Department, where they focused on engineering and characterizing structural anisotropies in highly porous silica aerogel. Johannes then joined the Eisenstein Group at Caltech as an IQIM postdoctoral scholar in physics, contributing to research in the field. In 2017, Johannes co-founded EeroQ Quantum Hardware and served as the Chief Science Officer. Meanwhile, they also worked as the Jerry Cowen Chair of Physics and Associate Professor at Michigan State University, where they contributed to the exploration of fundamental physics and quantum information applications. Johannes subsequently became the Associate Director of MSU-Q, collaborating with faculty members from various departments to advance quantum technologies. Throughout their career, Johannes demonstrated expertise in quantum systems and made significant contributions to the field.

Johannes Pollanen completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Physics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill from 2000 to 2003. Johannes then pursued further studies at Northwestern University from 2003 to 2012, where they obtained their Ph.D. in Experimental Ultra Low Temperature Physics.
