Senior Technical Sustainability Reporting Manager at EFRAG

Bernhard Frey currently serves as a Senior Technical Sustainability Reporting Manager at EFRAG since June 2023. Prior to this role, Bernhard had extensive experience at the United Nations Global Compact from September 2013 to June 2023, where responsibilities included Senior Manager for SDG Impact and Reporting as well as Environment and Climate Change. Bernhard also worked as a Sustainable Development Manager at the UN Non-governmental Liaison Service from September 2011 to September 2013. Earlier career positions include Environmental Policy Advisor and Environmental Policy and Communications Advisor at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH from November 2007 to July 2011, a Sustainable Development Project Assistant at the European Economic and Social Committee for a brief period in early 2007, and an International Affairs Project Assistant at CIDOB, Barcelona Centre for International Affairs from September 2006 to January 2007. Bernhard holds a High School Diploma from Deutsche Schule Barcelona and a Master's degree from institutions including Sciences Po Bordeaux, Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and Universität Trier.

EFRAG

EFRAG is a private association established in 2001 with the encouragement of the European Commission to serve the public interest. EFRAG extended its mission in 2022 following the new role assigned to EFRAG in the CSRD, providing Technical Advice to the European Commission in the form of fully prepared draft EU Sustainability Reporting Standards and/or draft amendments to these Standards. Its Member Organisations are European stakeholders and National Organisations and Civil Society Organisations. EFRAG’s activities are organised in two pillars: A Financial Reporting Pillar: influencing the development of IFRS Standards from a European perspective and how they contribute to the efficiency of capital markets and providing endorsement advice on (amendments to) IFRS Standards to the European Commission. Secondly, a Sustainability Reporting Pillar: developing draft EU Sustainability Reporting Standards, and related amendments for the European Commission.
