Ida Rødseth

Chief Economist at EFTA Surveillance Authority

Ida Rødseth has a diverse work experience in the field of economics. Ida started their career as an Academic Assistant at NHH - Norwegian School of Economics in 2007. From 2010 to 2014, they worked as an Advisor at the Norwegian Competition Authority. In 2014, they joined the EFTA Surveillance Authority as an Economist, and later became the Chief Economist in 2022. In 2017, they had a brief secondment at the European Commission in the DG comp department. Ida Rødseth has demonstrated expertise in economics through their various roles in both academic and regulatory institutions.

Ida Rødseth's education history includes a Master of Business Administration degree in Economics from the Norwegian School of Economics (NHH). Ida has also pursued postgraduate courses at the University of California, Berkeley. Additionally, they have studied Public Policy Analysis at The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and obtained a diploma in EU Law from King's College London. Ida has also participated in a business development summer program at Rice Business - Jones Graduate School of Business.

EFTA Surveillance Authority

Mission The EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) monitors compliance with the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA Agreement) in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, enabling those States to participate in the Internal Market of the European Union. ESA is an international organisation, independent of the States, which safeguards the rights of individuals and undertakings under the EEA Agreement, ensuring free movement, fair competition and control of state aid. ESA's work helps remove barriers to trade and open up new opportunities to over 450 million Europeans, creating jobs and growth and adding to the international competitiveness of the States. ESA is based in Brussels. It currently employs staff members of 19 nationalities. ESA is led by a College consisting of three members, each appointed for a period of four years by the three participating EFTA States.
