Jakob Jorundsson has extensive work experience in the field of information technology. Jakob began their career as the Head of Information Technology at Netverk PLC, where they worked from 1999 to 2004. Jakob then transitioned to a role as a Technical Specialist/Consultant at EJS from 2004 to 2008. Following this, Jorundsson worked as an Infrastructure Administrator at Landsbankinn (NBI hf) from 2008 to 2013. Jakob then joined EFTA as a Senior IT Systems supervisor, where they remained until 2018. Jorundsson's most recent position is as the Head of Information Technology at the EFTA Surveillance Authority, which they have held since 2018. Throughout their career, they have demonstrated a strong ability to lead and manage IT teams, develop technology infrastructure and strategies, and ensure the security of information systems.
Jakob Jorundsson has a diverse education history. Jakob obtained a Diploma of Education from Saïd Business School, University of Oxford in 2022, specializing in the Oxford Executive Leadership Programme. Prior to this, they earned a Master of Science (MS) degree in Management Information Systems, General from The University of Salford between 2018 and 2021.
In 1999, Jakob completed their education at Technical College Reykjavík, where they received a degree in Computer and Network Technologies. Additionally, they hold various certifications including CC - Certified in Cybersecurity from ISC2 in May 2022, MCSA Windows Server 2012 from Microsoft in March 2018, CompTIA Certified Technical Trainer (CTT+) from CompTIA in May 2006, and ITIL® v2 Foundation from ITIL Certified.
Furthermore, they obtained the Microsoft Certified Trainer designation for the years 2006-2024. Jakob also achieved the VmWare Certified Associate - Data Center Virtualization certification in March 2015.

EFTA Surveillance Authority
Mission The EFTA Surveillance Authority (ESA) monitors compliance with the Agreement on the European Economic Area (EEA Agreement) in Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway, enabling those States to participate in the Internal Market of the European Union. ESA is an international organisation, independent of the States, which safeguards the rights of individuals and undertakings under the EEA Agreement, ensuring free movement, fair competition and control of state aid. ESA's work helps remove barriers to trade and open up new opportunities to over 450 million Europeans, creating jobs and growth and adding to the international competitiveness of the States. ESA is based in Brussels. It currently employs staff members of 19 nationalities. ESA is led by a College consisting of three members, each appointed for a period of four years by the three participating EFTA States.
