Satish Rao has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) and bioanalysis. Satish is currently working at Eidos Therapeutics as the Senior Vice President of DMPK. Satish previously held the position of Vice President of DMPK at the same company from 2018 to 2022. Prior to that, they worked as a Senior Director of DMPK at Eidos Therapeutics from 2017 to 2018.
Before joining Eidos Therapeutics, Satish worked at Endocyte, Inc. as a Research Advisor/Associate Director of DMPK & Bioanalysis from 2016 to 2017. Satish also held the position of Senior Research Scientist of DMPK & Bioanalysis at Endocyte, Inc. from 2013 to 2016.
Satish's career also includes working at the Institute for Neurodegenerative Diseases, UCSF as an Assistant Adjunct Professor of DMPK & Bioanalysis from 2010 to 2012. Satish was an Associate Director of DMPK at ARYx Therapeutics, Inc. from 2006 to 2010. Prior to that, they worked as a Staff Scientist/Principal Scientist of Bioanalysis at Scios Inc. (A Johnson & Johnson Company) from 2002 to 2006.
Satish's earlier work experience includes being a Senior Scientist of Bioanalysis at MDS Pharma Services (formerly Analytical Solutions, Inc.) from 1994 to 2002. Satish started their professional career as a Postdoctoral Scholar at UCSF, focusing on the study of mechanisms of myoglobin as an oxidative catalyst and its role in lipid peroxidation, under the guidance of Dr. Paul R. Ortiz de Montellano from 1991 to 1994.
Satish Rao's education history begins in 1980 when they obtained a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Pharmacy from Manipal Academy of Higher Education. Satish then pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) in Pharmacy at the University of Mumbai from 1984 to 1986. Following this, Satish Rao undertook a Ph.D. in Medicinal and Natural Products Chemistry at the University of Iowa, completing it from 1986 to 1991.
