Kristian Skaug has a background in the plumbing industry, with experience working at YC Rør AS as a Lærling Rørlegger. Kristian then moved on to Hulleberg & Bø where Kristian worked as a Rørlegger VA/Grunnarbeider. Following that, Kristian joined Hamar kommune as a Rørlegger VA and Driftsoperatør Rørinspeksjon.
