Rosamaria Murillo, PhD, LMSW has extensive experience in various leadership roles within the public health sector. Rosamaria is currently serving as the Chief Executive Officer of El Buen Samaritano since July 2019. Prior to this, they worked as an Assistant Director at the Texas Department of State Health Services and as the Director of Community Engagement at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission.

Prior to their leadership roles, Dr. Murillo held positions at the Texas Department of State Health Services, where they served as the Deputy Director for the Preventive Medicine Residency Program and as the Director of Consumer Affairs. Rosamaria also directed the Texas Breast and Cervical Cancer Program at the Texas Department of Health.

Earlier in their career, Dr. Murillo worked as the Associate Director at Migrant Health Promotion, where they played a key role in strategic planning, policy development, budgeting, and program oversight.

Rosamaria Murillo, PhD, LMSW has a diverse educational background. Rosamaria began their academic journey in 1985 at The University of Texas at Austin, where they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology/Health Education. After completing their undergraduate studies in 1987, they furthered their education at Our Lady of the Lake University from 1990 to 1992. During this period, they obtained a Master of Social Work degree (LMSW), specializing in Social Work. Building upon their professional growth, Rosamaria pursued higher education at the Our Lady of the Lake School of Business and Leadership from 2001 to 2008. During this time, they earned their PhD in Leadership, further enhancing their expertise in this field.
