Janis Porter is currently serving as the President of the Board of Directors at Elder Rights Advocacy. With extensive experience in various roles including serving as a Board Member at Older Persons Advocacy Network and BreastScreen Victoria, Janis is dedicated to advocating for the rights of older individuals. Previously, Janis has also volunteered at the Bendigo Neighbourhood Hub and has a background in history, business ownership, and policy advising. Janis holds a Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Humanities/Humanistic Studies from La Trobe University.

Elder Rights Advocacy
Elder Rights Advocacy provides information, advocacy and education that supports older Victorians and their right to access quality aged care. Our service is free, independent, confidential and covers all forms of Australian Government funded aged care. Advocacy involves supporting older people and their families to communicate their needs and have these listened to and acted upon by service providers. Our services also include - Free education sessions for older people and their families, Elder abuse prevention and response, Fee-for-service education for service providers, and Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme.
