Shanmugam K

Shanmugam K has a diverse and extensive work experience in the technology and e-learning industry.

Starting in 2000, Shanmugam worked at Arena Multimedia as a Multimedia Faculty and later became the Technical Head, involved in marketing and counseling activities.

In 2002, Shanmugam joined Sify eLearning as an Associate Project Manager, where they were responsible for project estimation, scheduling, monitoring, and control. Shanmugam also served as a Programmer Lead, leading a team of programmers to create flash GUIs for eLearning courses. Additionally, they worked as a Multimedia Programmer, focusing on action script programming for eLearning delivery solutions and ensuring SCORM/AICC compliance of the courseware. Shanmugam later became the Functional Manager and Project Manager, managing eLearning projects for GE Contractual Services and Cisco Systems. Shanmugam also took on the role of Manager - New Products and Services, identifying new opportunities, acquiring the latest technology, and designing, developing, and deploying new products.

In 2008, Shanmugam joined Macmillan Publishing Solutions as the Manager of Visual Programming and Innovation. In this role, they built a team to cater to rich media and technology requirements for educational publishers and corporate training. Shanmugam provided technical solutions based on Flash, Flex, and Adobe AIR platforms and led a team to design and develop a product for rapid conversion of educational materials into rich media flip books and Interactive Whiteboard Content.

In 2010, Shanmugam joined Origin Learning and served in various roles. Shanmugam initially worked as the Director - Media & Technology, providing strategic direction on technology and architecting technical solutions for client projects. Shanmugam also led the development of an award-winning LMS product based on social learning principles. Later, they became the Senior Director of Technology, providing strategic direction on technology products and services to keep the organization at the cutting edge. Shanmugam also led the product design and engineering for Fractal LXP, their award-winning SAAS platform for extended enterprise and training organizations. Finally, they served as the Vice President of Technology & CISO, taking care of product design and engineering, technology services, and internal IT operations. Shanmugam successfully established ISMS for the product and obtained ISO27001 certification within one year. Shanmugam is also a certified lead auditor for ISO 27001 (CISA).

Most recently, in 2022, Shanmugam joined ELB Learning (formerly eLearning Brothers) as the Vice President - Product Management.

Shanmugam K has a diverse educational background. Shanmugam completed their Bachelor of Architecture degree at Adhiyamaan College of Engineering, University of Madras from 1993 to 1998. Following this, they pursued further education in the field of multimedia by obtaining an Advanced Diploma in Multimedia from Arena Multimedia in 1999-2000. Shanmugam then went on to specialize in web programming by completing a Professional Diploma in Web Engineering from Arena Multimedia in 2000-2001. To enhance their business management skills, Shanmugam K pursued an Executive Post Graduate Diploma in Business Management with a focus on MBA at Loyola Institute of Business Administration from 2004 to 2006.
