Tom Couture has a varied work experience. In 2016, they served as Technical Lead, Product Manager, Lead Engineer for Optimized Energy Storage Design Software, and Business Development and Mechanical Engineering at Electra Vehicles, Inc. In 2015, they were a Teaching Assistant and Peer Educator at Clarkson University, as well as a Customer Service Associate at Men's Wearhouse.
Tom Couture completed their high school education at Mount Mansfield Union High School in 2014 with a High School Diploma (Magna Cum Laudé). In 2013, they attended the Governor's Institute of Vermont for the Engineering - Sustainability Strand (Photovoltaics). In 2014, they began their undergraduate studies at Clarkson University, graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.

Electra Vehicles, Inc. is an industry leader and pioneer of hybrid energy storage system design and controls for automotive and grid applications. Electra was founded in 2015 by energy storage experts Fabrizio Martini and Nicolò Brambilla, and rocketed to success in the clean-tech startup space in Boston, reaching the Top-26 of the 2016 MassChallenge startup incubator, participating in Cleantech Open Northeast, and receiving extensive support from the Massachusetts Clean Energy Center.
